I have this problem as well with Lucid 10.04 final x86-64 on my T400 with intel graphics or with ATI discrete graphics selected in the bios. pm suspend or hibernate from command line or gui leaves the "moon led" on the laptop blinking after upgrading all packages.
Symptoms:
"Moon" led is left blink as system hangs. Requires holding down power button to do a hard poweroff.
Thinklight is still able to be turned on or off and controls to change. Often, backlighting are still active and controllable with the thinkpad keys.
Trials with out success:
- Tried 2010-05-26 mainline kernel
- I tried the lp_patch version prepared for the X201 problem with suspend.
- tried adding command line approach on the "acpi_sleep=sci_force_enable with the above kernels.
- tried disabling one cpu before suspending
