I have the same issue, what extra info do you need to troubleshoot? i have 10.04 (2.6.32-24-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP).

Additional apport-collect info:

$ apport-collect -p linux
Warning: The options -p/-P are deprecated, please do not use them. See /usr/bin/apport-collect --help
Usage: apport-collect <report number>

apport-collect: error: You need to specify a report number to update
