I found a temporary way to control the brightness here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=73889

To control the brightness, I run

 "sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=??"

with ?? ranging from 00 (completely black) to FF (maximum brightness)
