This may be fixed by updating to a newer version of libgphoto2. The version in an up to date Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron is libgphoto2 2.4.0-8ubuntu8. According to http:// gphoto. sourceforge. net/news/ support for the Canon EOS 450D was added in libgphoto2 2.4.2. libgphoto2 2.4.2-0ubuntu2 is included in Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex, with an update to 2.4.2-0ubuntu3 available. There is a Jaunty 2.4.2-0ubuntu5 package in the PPA available at https:/ /launchpad. net/~mrooney/ +archive/ ppa but I'm not sure if it will apply to Hardy.
