Follow-up to my post #93:
Weirdly enough, #86 worked for one laptop (Dell Inspiron 5150) but not for another, Dell Latitude D800. Same network card Dell TrueMobile 1150. I am not sure about the firmware versions on the cards, they might be different. For the Latitude D800, I am trying to connect to an unsecured network, without success.
Forgot to mention, I am running 10.04. For both machines, 8.04 worked out of the box.
