I may have narrowed it down a little more. Though I still don't have anything logged, I had the same panic again today (non-responsive, caps-lock blinks, needs hard reset), BUT for the first time it was NOT when using a sound/streaming video ap. This time it happened when using Google Earth. This suggests to me that this is likely something to do with my ATI integrated card and the open source driver.
