This is also a regression for me on my HP NC6000, unlike others above when the lid is closed/lid button depressed the screen stays on.

7.10 - No joy (may have started working towards the end of the release, I have a poor memory)
8.04 - Worked from the beginning of the release until the end (best release yet)
8.10 - The bug has regressed (buggiest release yet)

Please investigate.
