Thank Angelo,
I did a clean install as the previous was an upgrade however it still is
not working, it did the same thing for a time in version 9.04 was
working then disappeared and then after an update it started working again.
So I hope at some point in time the experts figure it out. When I run
cfdisk it shows everything as ext3 but gparted shows ext4 no floppy
listed. Not sure about that either. Apart from all that everything
else seems to work fine,
