I still have a few more days before my laptop arrives, but...

Reading dsdt.dsl that you've posted, i don't think the _HOT thermal zone returns a value for any operating system before VISTA.

Try setting acpi_os_name to "Windows 2006" or "Windows 2009" on the kernel command line and post results.
