I, too, have had several crashes on a 9.04 server (32-bit) running the 2.6.28-16 kernel. I've gone back to 2.6.28-15; too early so far to tell whether this will fix the problem.
There have been other recent reports from people having crashes with 2.6.28-16; see, for example, the tail end of the following discussion:

If I continue to get crashes running 2.6.28-15, I'll have to modify my hardware setup in order to get more info; unfortunately, the crash generates a long kernel backtrace, and the crucial details about the crash end up scrolling off the server's console.
