Perhaps this will help in diagnosing the problem. I know very little about linux and Ubuntu, so I apologize if this is improperly formatted or not useful. This is a section of my kern.log from the point at which I most recently tried to suspend my computer.
I'm using an HP Pavilion dv4 laptop. I've used previous versions of Ubuntu and have not had this problem, and I am still able to use the hibernate feature. I've updated my system every day that I've used Ubuntu, and I've tried reinstalling all packages related to ACPI with no effect.
