My script starts at the end of boot process and checks last 30 lines of /var/log/kern.log. If it founds more than 3 occurrences of “cannot set freq 16000 to ep 0×86″ it removes kernel module snd-usb-audio form kernel and plugs it back again. Script can be modified for your error that pops up in kern.log and you can put your solution if removing snd-usb-audio doesn't work.
This problem should really get some attention. We don't need new theme every Ubuntu release or new set of icons. We need our hardware to work.
Guys i wrote comment #14. I made bash script as a workaround for this problem and posted link to my workaround. Link in comment #16 is not valid so I will put valid link again: http:// www.techytalk. co.cc/2010/ 07/logitech- e3500-webcam- and-cannot- set-freq- 16000-to- ep-0x86/
