After updating to 9.10 I have a similar problem with this card. After booting the modules are loaded and everything looks fine in the logs , but the card is not recognized by any program. But after
x@gandalf:~$ sudo modprobe -r cx88_dvb
x@gandalf:~$ sudo modprobe cx88_dvb
the card is working fine. The logs look the same, see dmesg_rm.txt.
There seems to be a problem in the module load order, probably.

The Logs are not quite the same.

I can see at least one important difference:

This cannot be found in your log.

Removing and adding the cx88_dvb module didn't help on my computer, also.

So for me the issue is still open.

I've upgraded to 2.6.31-17 and still seeing this error. Let me know if you need any debug info - I've got a broken system here that I'd love to have fixed.

If your card is a Leadtek PCI TV tuner card which uses a CX2388x/XC4000 chipset, there is a driver available for it:

I've tested this on a DTV2000H Plus and it works perfectly (for DTV, not using analogue so I haven't tested that). It would be REALLY good to get this patch into Lucid so I don't have to recompile v4l-dvb myself each time!

Hi Franz,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 458304

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.
