xir: No, the only modifications to the kernel are the two patches. The ubuntu main linux packages and my patched stuff copies the .config used for building to /boot/config*, so you can diff them.

Benchmarking UI responsiveness is apparently a challenging problem. If you come up with a good way to show solid numbers that represent your experience with nautilus, people will be interested.

Just a note: CPU percentage usage is never to be trusted.
