Comment 75 for bug 422536

Hi everyone, I don't get any pop up error messages, but I do see the entry also listed in my logs. Some of you may want to check your chipset or northbridge settings in the BIOS. My ECC settings were hidden inside those areas.

I turned my ECC on (my BIOS also has multiple settings) and rebooted with each setting and still have the messages in my logs.

I have had other apps crash on me in Karmic but don't know if they are related to this. My system is mostly stable so it's hard to say if any instability is coming from it of the fact that I'm running Karmic before RC1.

I do see a problem with this though. Memory can become very unstable when overclocked or even if you have a wrong setting which can definitely cause crashes, and sometimes a system to not even boot. Also if you have ever built some computers, you may know how picky some computers can be about it's memory (example, a stick of memory might work fine in one motherboard and cause the next one to freeze on boot).

So as far as those that don't have ECC in the BIOS or don't turn it on, there shouldn't be any errors concerning this (But it seems there are). Then for those who do have it and have it turned on, there also shouldn't be this error because the ECC is enabled.
