I also previously reported this bug with my Biostar rig (post 179).

Today I installed Karmic on a Foxconn A7DA-S motherboard with an AMD 940 Phenom II, Corsair CMPSU-650TX power supply, 4GB (2x1GB) G.Skill F2-8500CL5D RAM, Asus EAH 3870 512MB video card using HDMI to a Samsung LNS3251D HDTV.
Same issue and bug report.
When booting I get as far as the Grub selection screen and then I have to unplug the HDMI cable for the boot to continue.
The cable disconnect only has to last a few seconds for the boot to continue.
With the Biostar I can quickly shut the TV on and off but the Foxconn has to be momentarily disconnected.

The Bioster TF720 A2+ uses an NVIDIA nForce 720a chipset and has integrated Geforce 8100 based graphics although I'm using a Radeon 4670 discrete video card.
The Foxconn A7DA-S uses AMD® 790GX + SB750 chipsets and has integrated AMD HD3300 based graphics although I'm using a Radeon 3870 discrete video card.

Both computers will boot normally with my Samsung T220HD monitor/LCD TV using HDMI interface.
Both rigs use DDR2 SDRAM non ECC.
Both have multiple operating systems on separate hard drives.
Win 7, XP and Ubuntu Jaunty but the problems only happen with Karmic.

Hope this information helps.
