I upgrade to Karmic from Jaunty and my Dell Optical Wheel Mouse stopped working after reboot. Command lsusb gives the following output:

I experienced the same thing on my T42 Thinkpad. Touchpad, trackpoint, and a USB mouse I plugged in after logging in all do not work (neither movements nor button presses are registered).
