The corresponding bug report on freedesktop.org was closed as WONTFIX because "...the 830M chipset is not widely used and there is no corresponding specfic for DVO configuration... " ( https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17902 )

So except we get them to reopen this bug there is no chance that systems with this chipset will ever work on newer linux distributions.
