I have the exact same problem with my Fujitsu Stylistic ST4110, and the "intel" driver. It worked fine with the "i810" driver, but openSUSE 11.1 no longer has it as an option.

It too uses the i830M "82830 CGC" Intel chip set, and gives an "X fails to start as no valid screens are found."

Unless an external monitor is connected, then the external monitor displays a running X session, but the internal flat panel shows white vertical stripes that get progressively brighter.

I'd love for this bug to be fixed.
