Bug Description
I selected suspend from the FUSA. On pressing the power button to resume I get the gdm login prompt. The machine did do a resume and not a boot, there was no boot process to be seen. This bug report was initiated by the panel applet.
It looks like there are other similar bug reports for HP laptops so this might be a duplicate.
ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from resuming properly. The resume processing hung very near the end and will have appeared to have completed normally.

UserGroups:
Looking at the SleepLog.txt we can see that we were waiting on the resume to complete:
/usr/ lib/pm- utils/sleep. d/95anacron resume suspend: success. lib/pm- utils/sleep. d/94cpufreq resume suspend: success. lib/pm- utils/sleep. d/90chvt resume suspend:
/usr/
/usr/
We can see that the chvt is still running and has been for a long time.
root 9391 8828 0 10:32 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/ pm-utils/ sleep.d/ 90chvt resume suspend d/K20apport stop
root 9401 9391 0 10:32 ? 00:00:00 chvt 8
[...]
root 10151 10067 0 10:38 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /etc/rc6.
The chvt appears hung. Marking this duplicate of bug #352178.
