Christoph: Sorry for the late reply! I've had lockups from just about every possible non-shutdown - choosing 'suspend' from the ubuntu menu, shutting the lid (which I have configured to suspend), and also choosing 'hibernate' from the ubuntu menu.

I've also seen the failed-to-thaw errors resuming from a hibernate session that you posted on 2009-04-05.
