I have an atheros card, and I am using lucid lynx beta. The bug only started affecting after I upgraded. It seems it occurs when I am using system intensive applications such as games, or flash videos. Although I might be wrong. My internet slows down and phy0 starts using about 80 % of the CPU, the uptime gets really high about 4 ~ 5 for a dual core system (AMD Turion X2). I suppose that happens because it involves entering the kernel a lot thus blocking the rest of the system causing a huge load. After just a few minutes on the virtual kernel I get lots of message about ath5k. (Unfortunately I don't have the output right now). The bug always occured when I was not using a VM. Not saying that VMs prevents the bug but simply it is independent from it.
If I kill phy0 using command "sudo killalll phy0" it seems to fix the problem mostly but nm-applet will get stuck trying to get still using some CPU power, so I disable the wireless as well. Killing phy0 always stops the wireless (not suprising).
If this is a different problem please tell me so I will send a report!
I don't know if what I got is the same bug.
