I have the same problem. But I found that works or not, depending on the position in which the laptop is located, with respect to the wifi router. It is as if there were cones in the shadows that Atheros does not communicate with the router. Especially being close. It works best to be several meters (3 to 8 meters).

Tengo el mismo problema. Pero he detectado que funciona o no, según la posición en que se ubique la laptop, con respecto al router wifi. Es como si hubiera conos de sombras en las que la atheros no se comunica con el router. Sobre todo estando cerca. Funciona mejor estando a varios metros de distancia (entre 3 y 8 metros).
Espero que sirva este aporte. Disculpen pero mi inglés es muy malo.
