I am also affected by this bug. I have a KVM guest that runs Lucid on a virtio drive and I get the following message :

Nov 17 20:03:39 vpn01 kernel: [ 3.672378] JBD: barrier-based sync failed on vda1-8 - disabling barriers

The file associated to the virtio device lives on a RAID-0 MD device.
