Thanks for the suggestions, I will try setting the kernel command line.

I found another solution that worked for me. With my nvidia driver enabled, I tried running the script from,

and it changes the brightness. Though it is temporary solution, gives me peace of mind till the issue is resolved!

I can try creating another bug, but will that be classified as duplicate to this?
