Bug Description

 Hi all,

Description: Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release: 9.04

alsa-base - Version: 1.0.18.dfsg-1ubuntu3
pulseaudio - Version: 0.9.14-0ubuntu3

I have a laptop (MSI GX700) with 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller, because alsa is not detecting the sound card correctly I am using "options snd-hda-intel model=targa-dig" in "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base" This option was working in Ubuntu 8.10 with all my speakers. I am using the sound card in 6 channel mode with 3 stereo jacks connected to an external 5.1 system. All the speakers are working under Windows, but under Jaunty I have no sound from the LFE speaker. I tried changing back to 2 channels and back again to 6, but with no luck.
I also tried with this command: speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -l1 -twav
All the speakers have been working again even the LFE. but if I start Audacious, or smplayer, or totem I get sound only from 5 speakers and no sound from the LFE.

Same problem here. I'm using the latest jaunty updates with my Soundblaster Audigy and the upmix does not work properly. Front/Rear and the center work, LFE doesnt. You can see this in volume-meter for example. The LFE seems to be muted.

Please tell me if I can provide more useful information.

Ok, I found a solution.
Edit /etc/pulse/daemon.conf with root previliges, uncomment disable-lfe-remixing and set it to "no".

disable-lfe-remixing = no

I don't know why its turned off by default, but now it works.
