Hi all - I installed Karmic in November and only now noticed this problem.
My hardware: an IBM ThinkPad R5. (See attached lshw output for more details.)
I haven't identified a specific cause. To trigger the problem, I can start either Armagetron or Chromium, and soon files all over the place become inaccessible.
Initially I thought it was just an ext4 problem, since I was observing filesystem corruption issues (or so I thought). After converting completely to ext3, I still see weird FS issues (it now thinks my 8gb / partition is 16T and 100% full).
Finally I looked to dmesg, which posted the same "low memory corruption" message.
