Tried modifying /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

options snd-hda-intel model=laptop

and

options snd-hda-intel model=ref

don't work

@Chad... that would be great. AFAIK the only problem is that the MIE doesn't seem to
have a terminal for our favourite commands :(
