I did a bit of further testing. Manually compiling and installing upstream ALSA 1.0.16 (from ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.19.tar.bz2) without having lum installed, it actually work. So the problem could be somewhere in our delta from upstream. Either that, or my test are not good. I will be investigating a bit more and report back shortly.
