No sound in ubuntu, tried all guides I could find and nothing works

Bug Description
I have upgraded from 7.10 to 8.10 and have lost all sound (apart from system beeps). I have looked around and people have suggested various things like reinstalling/
I followed this guide: https:/
aplay -l gives me:
