Hi vince,

You do seem to have different hardware and graphic card than what Marc has reported so it maybe that you will want to open a new bug report as you might need a different fix than what Marc will. However, I'm curious if you switch a vc1 (Ctrl-Alt-F1) first and then issue a suspend '/etc/acpi/sleep.sh force' what happens ? Do you still need to execute the workaround you mentioned?

Marc, care to try the same and let me know what the result is?

For this machine, I can actually ssh into the machine after it resumes with a black screen. So, I have enabled the pm_trace as detailed in the DebuggingKernelSuspend wiki page and attached the resulting dmesg output. Let me know if you need anything else.

Leann,

it's all black if i switch to vc1 after the resume. i must ssh in and run '#vbetool post' in order to get the screen back.

I have the same problem, on a Gateway. Lights & fans come on, but screen stays black. This problem appeared in Intrepid, and I tried 9.04 to see if it went away- no luck. If anyone wants various logs, let me know (and how to get them) and I'll add them.

A recent change to the kernel may have fixed this issue. Please try the latest daily build from the kernel ppa, or wait for Maverick Alpha 2 and test that. See bug #594885 for more details.
