Upgraded distro to Jaunty, upgraded packages as of today (8th september 2009), tested with lates upstream kernel available (2.6.31.999),but the bug is still not fixed. The behaviour is actually that: Fn + F3/F4 fuly decreases/increases the volume. The volume icon keeps appearing and disappearing, untill I press again F3 or F4, then it stops blinking. I can interact with the mouse (e.g. increase/decrease volume) but no effect with keyboard, with any key combination. Can't shutdown/reboot with the dedicated button on the panel: no window scrolls down. Can reboot only after pressing power button on laptop: the sutdown/reboot window appears and I can select an option with the mouse. I created a launcher with the code "apport-collect -p linux 288134", which I fired after Fn + F3/F4, hope it is of any help.
Cannot actually test on any other release
