We seem to be sharing very similar situations for WiFi stuff. I also have an Intel 4965AGN adapter (iwalgn driver). My computer is a notebook computer - the Asus F8SV-A1. Normally connecting (at home) to a D-Link DIR-655 router with wireless N. Security is WPA2.
For graphics I have the proprietary NVidia driver, but have encountered similar kernel panics with both available versions of that and with the free alternative.
