Bug Description

Wireless activity LED indicator on Acer Aspire 5520 laptop does not work, it stays off all the time.

This can be fixed by entering following rows in /etc/rc.local

sysctl -w dev.wifi0.ledpin=3
sysctl -w dev.wifi0.softled=1

as explained here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/AcerAspire5520#WirelessLed

but it appears the switches will be removed in newer kernels.

The same thing is known to happen on AspireOne that uses same wireless adapter, see

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/284474

(not sure if this should be marked as duplicated).

For what it matters, I'm using madwifi-HAL 0.10.5.6-r3861 (manually compiled from their site, since the ones provided with Ubunto do not work)

Looks like it is related to acerhk package not being built for AMD64.

See bug #238496 for more infos.
