I found a workaround that is working here without the event/0 problem.
I don't know if is the order of unload/load, but SUSPEND_MODULES="rtl8187" does not work very well. Instead, I created a file (/etc/pm/sleep.d/09_rtl8187_workaround, attached, 09_name is important) to unload the module right before /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/10NetworkManager on suspend and load it right after 10NetworkManager on wakeup (check your /var/log/pm-suspend.log). On suspend, it waits 5 secs before continue (it is an arbitrary time setting that worked, so I leaved it untouched).
