I am also having this issue. I don't have any dmesg results to post yet. I have not let the machine sit long enough when it does this to realize it was actually doing something.

It has done this since I switched to intrepid about a month ago (during the beta). With the final release and the 2.6.27-7 kernel (running 32 bit kernel) I am having this problem as well. But for me, typically I'm just typing along and it goes kaput.

Del inspiron E1705 Intel Core 2 DUO cpu. My logs look similar to the above posted log. I'll see if I can get some dmesg outputs as well and post those back.
