ive also been seeing all this error messages, wifi sometimes work, most of the time it does not. i installed madwifi to solve this some releases ago, but then some intrepid update broke that and i couldn't get it to work again.
using kernel 2.6.27-7, fresh install from today with all updates.

more errors i got:
ath5k phy0: ath5k_chan_set: unable to reset channel ($freq mhz)
ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration timeout (2437MHz)

hardware is atheros AR 242x in leveno thinkpad x200
