Installed. Reboot.
No effect - still get several rounds of:
CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event - remove keys
CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event - remove keys
Associated with 00:18:39:8a:8c:35
Authentication with 00:18:39:8a:8c:35 timed out.
before it connects.

I've made the mods given on the linked forum thread, and it appears to have helped, but connecting to WPA2 is still more of a problem than WPA1 networks.
