Comment 9 for bug 251664

I have an Asus m50vm-b1 and sound does not work out of the box on Ubuntu 8.10 release. I added the "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-dig" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and the sound works, but I get crazy erratic beeping and boot and shutdown, and boot and shutdown take extra long. Is there anyway to have sound without all the crazy system beeps? Thanks
