If anyone lands here because of this issue in quantal 12.10... I found that the module name changed so the iwl_legacy led_mode=1 option doesn't work any longer.

You need to change it to:
options iwlegacy led_mode=1

Note there is only one 'l' in the module name.

Also, I believe the name of the .conf file doesn't matter so I put my option in 'iwl_led.conf' so that the next upgrade will leave it alone.
