Yeah, confirmed still broken experience in 10.10, also thw fix from #119 works and is trivial to roll out.
This is terrible default behaviour, doubly so on laptops/netbooks.
If you have a desktop, you can't see the light (it's around the back 9/10 times), and so the status LED is unimportant.
However, if you have a smaller device, the LED light is likely to be very visible, and blinking (attracting attention) while it is in a normal, safe, working state is a poor UI.
