The problem still occurs after disabling the driver and rebooting. The same happens with Hibernate. However, Hibernate worked with one of the previous kernels (2.6.24-17 I think) - incorrectly (see LP 236784), but still didn't crash the computer. Now I wonder whether I should file another bug report or edit this one.
