Comment 38 for bug 228633

I booted up 8.04 in 2.6.24-19 generic recovery mode. Looked around a little and when to lunch for 20 minutes. When I came back I had a blank screen and could not get a prompt. Since I had tried to use a ping earlier and found I did not have network access this seems to point at something very basic.
