An updated version of iwlwifi (version 1.2.25) was recently pulled into linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-14.11: https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-backports-modules-2.6.24 . Care to try installing the linux-backports-modules package with the updated iwlwifi version to see if this helps resolve the issue you are seeing? Please let us know your results. Thanks.
