Hi Mint, sorry for the delay in response, I haven't had a chance to look much more deeply into this. I'm adding server-todo so either me or someone else can assist soon.

I'd like to re-iterate that reproducing this behavior in VMs/LXC containers would help with narrowing down what's going on if that's a task you're willing to try out. This will allow us to debug in the same environment.
