I don't know if any precise idea is in your mind, but I think a feasible strategy would be to install from the media of an earlier distribution release (e.g. 18.04 or 21.10), and then upgrade to the current release.

You would then have the old kernel available, from which hopefully your boot would be successful, allowing you to experiment with the newer kernels from the 5.15 series. Hopefully you will have the same experience of booting successfully with kernel 5.15.0-40 once you pull it from the online update.
