Benjamin, here we have an Elantech touchpad that is currently detected only through the PS2 port and there it "sometimes" work.

It works if restarted from Windows into Linux quickly after the Windows desktop loads and then only if the computer was not shut down.
It works reliably across suspend and restarts, but not shut downs.

Currently the driver is detected and used only through PS/2.
Probably Your driver was not compiled in when the dmesgs were made, but it also didn't detect the touchpad when a distro kernel was used.

Do You have HIDI2C.SYS anywhere connected with this touchpad?
