acpi_osi="Linux" didn't help. When using acpi=off, the machine doesn't even boot :-(, hangs somewhere along the way, though pushing button had it shutdown immediately. So ACPI appears to be must for this laptop.

I've been using various Fn + one of the function key combination to accomplish something. E.g., to turn on/off Bluetooth, to un/mute the speakers, to increase/decrease the volume, to turn wireless on/off, to turn back light on/off for the keyboard etc. they all just work.

Suspend to RAM works. I haven't tried suspend to hard disk yet, considering it only takes around 10 seconds from boot loader to desktop environment, so felt no reason to try suspend to disk yet.

CPU temp (individual cores etc.) and some other temperature are nicely reported, with the help of lm_sensors & KSensors GUI tool. Fan kicks in when the CPU temp goes up above certain threshold (like when compiling kernel) & slows down or stops upon reaching certain threshold.

All these things indicate that ACPI appears to be helping. But we don't know for sure, whether it's extending its help to Elantech trackpad.

Will try activating ACPI debug & give the results here.

Thanks
