I also have a U24F Gigabyte under Archlinux and the exact same problem with my touchpad. I will try to compile my own patched kernel tonight and let you know if this solve the problem.

I'm not well aware of the usual timeline, but when do you think this patch will be applied to the mainline kernel version ?

Also I am curious, how to you manage to find what was wrong ? Did you "disassembles" the windows drivers ?
