Since there is no patch yet, I am using this work-around for my HP laptop (hw/sw details: see #45):
- put this in /etc/default/grub (in my setup it is only changing the default value of that var)
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="acpi_osi=! \"acpi_osi=Windows 2015\" "
- then run this command to update the grub menu config:
  sudo update-grub2
